Why Renewal?

How Do We Change?

We must let go of our 'Grand Delusion' - the belief that if we can just get more efficient (run faster and accomplish more) that someday we will get ahead of the pressures. This approach will only dig us deeper into the same dysfunctional rut.

There will never be a slower time, or a better time to address these issues. The time is now. The solutions are ours. No one else is going to solve this for us. Leadership and courage are required.

We must arbitrarily break away from the action and cut through the noise to create breakthroughs in our thinking and shift our behaviour. A three part process of reflection, redirection and reinforcement will restore the essential balance between pressing for performance and pausing for renewal.

There are three cornerstones to the process:

  1. Reflection - Resetting Mindsets. This awareness shifting cornerstone involves challenging the hopes and fears that keep us clinging to the 'Grand Delusion'. We need to learn that it's all right to stop. We need to understand that our experiences are shaped by the sum of our individual choices. We need to embrace a deeper, more balanced definition of success that goes beyond speed and achievement to include wellness, relationship and sustainability.
  2. Redirection - Restoring The Rhythm of Renewal This skill building cornerstone helps us incorporate a new set of practices as an alternative to 'crash and burn' or 'blur and endure' habits. We need to establish the 'Press Pause...Press On' habits in our daily rituals and routines. We need to hone essential renewal skills as individuals, teams and organizations.
  3. Reinforcement - Reinforcing Through Reminders. Without reinforcement, significant changes in belief and behaviour are likely to revert back to less effective but more familiar practices. This cornerstone celebrates and encourages progress and solidifies gains by instituting new badges of honour and establishing accountability.

If we make these kind of shifts, where will it lead?
