P Katz September Celebration Log

2006 marked my twentieth year in business. To commemorate the occasion, my friend and colleague, Maggie, gave me a wall stencil with the word 'Celebrate'. I affixed that to the wall in my office and declared the year 2006 to be a year of celebration.

In 2006 I celebrated my 54th birthday and my 32nd wedding anniversary. My children reached 26 and 21 years of age; and my eldest daughter married. Major milestones always stand out, but my intent was to find something to celebrate every single day of the year.

This log is the expression of that intent. Day by day, I recorded experiences, events, and conditions – large and small. Despite life's challenges and disappointments, I always found something to celebrate.

I'm sharing this with you in the hopes that it might help you notice and celebrate more of the good things to be found in your everyday life, too.

Appreciatively yours, Patricia

PS – Why not try this yourself? Download one of the Celebration Log templates and create your own record of appreciation day by day. It's available in two forms with my compliments:

Sep 1 - Today I celebrate ... fresh conversation that comes with lunch with a new friend. How interesting to hear of Roberta's life as a diplomat – now entrepreneur in Spain. So many worlds in this world of ours.

Sep 2 - Today I celebrate ... the remembrance of so many Labor Day weekends spent with Mont and Eileen. What a wonderful touchstone it was to mark the passing of the years with them.

Sep 3 - Today I celebrate ... Dave's help with my new computer system. New is never easy and without him I'd be lost and more frustrated than ever.

Sep 4 - Today I celebrate ... the fun of watching a quirky sci fi movie with Lin and Dave – and the power of the belly laugh.

Sep 5 - Today I celebrate ... the feeling that it is time to get back to work. The summer is over and challenges await.

Sep 6 - Today I celebrate ... being the one who can raise tough questions with family members and facilitate their speaking openly to each other. I hope I help.

Sep 7 - Today I celebrate ... the discipline of following up on business leads. I'm not always good at this, but today I excelled.

Sep 8 - Today I celebrate ... the engagement of being a student again in a worthwhile workshop where I walked away with tools I can use immediately.

Sep 9 - Today I celebrate ... sharing the excitement of my new book with my speaker colleagues.

Sep 10 - Today I celebrate ... overnighting at the farm in my childhood room.

Sep 11 - Today I celebrate ... my sister, Peg, born today. Her loving heart shines from a distance.

Sep 12 - Today I celebrate ... the first session of the fall – stepping back into the harness again and remembering how it all works.

Sep 13 - Today I celebrate ... Canada's health care services, and the fact that I am able to access what I need - even if some docs are much more human and credible than others.

Sep 14 - I celebrate ... my good friend and colleague, Maggie, who has engineered multiple invitations to speak during the week I am in Thunder Bay. Fabulous support.

Sep 15 - Today I celebrate ... the joy of an extended fall – in which the first frost is delayed and the flowers keep blooming long past their usual prime.

Sep 16 - Today I celebrate ... the fall Farmer's Market – its colours, sounds and smells. Harvest is afoot.

Sep 17 - Today I celebrate ... direction, discernment and discipline in my life. They allow me to dive deep.

Sep 22 - Today I celebrate ... the generosity of a complete stranger. Amanda, the photographer, offers to drop by and record the events of next week's celebration - gratis!

Sep 23 - Today I celebrate ... the memorable trek through 20 years of business photos, pulling out the highlights for the anniversary slide show.

Sep 24 - Today I celebrate ... Sundays in September – both warm and cool.
